Chuy's
Broadway St, behind the quarry
San Antonio,TX |
 |
What a cool website! I just ordered the book.
My buddies Sauce and French and I are student pilots for the Air Force in
Del Rio, Texas, where there is not a single burrito to be found,
here or across the border in Acuna. We're sitting in the flight
room one day and the topic of "no burritos in Del Rio" came up.
We were done flying by 2:00, so we hopped into Sauce's car and drove
to Chuy's in San Antonio (on Broadway St, behind the quarry).
I kind of knew it was there but was more familiar with the ones
in Austin. I dig their burritos because they are the closest
to these excellent ones I used to get in this little taqueria
in north Denver, a bad part of town but I can't remember the
name of it. Anyway, we drove 2 1/2 hours to SA for burritos
that were awesome, and then drove back. We have also ventured
up to San Angelo, TX where there are some pretty decent burritos
too, at Hidalgo's and at Diego's Burritos. For Texas though,
Chuy's is my favorite. These days, when we're done flying jets on Friday we get together
and make burritos. Cool site, can't wait for my book to get here!

The very best is Freebirds in College Station, Texas. It
comes on a cayenne flour tortilla and is filled with steak and black beans, habanero sauce, rice and beans
and cheese, guac and pico if you want it.

It is called Freebirds and it is in College Station, Texas.
Their website is www.freebirds.com. They have the biggest burritos I have ever seen!
If you order the monster you will be full for 3 days.
Not only does it have the best burritos but it is a unique
atmosphere in a college town. If you are ever in College Station, TX
then you must try Freebirds. There are two locations, one on
Texas Ave. and the other on University Drive across the street from Texas A&M University.
